Yesterday I had the craziest day I have had in a very long time. I had a major problem to take care of, while trying to do my day-job. This was challenging enough, but the phone, the landline and the cell, wouldn’t stop ringing, about every 3 minutes. As soon as I got focused again, ring, ring, ring. I think on this day even “Putting out fires” wouldn’t describe it very well.
Perhaps this already exists and I did not get that memo. I would LOVE a digital day off. NO Blackberry’s, NO emails, NO landlines, NO voicemail, NO texting, NO internet, NO television…a wonderful peacefullness will follow at least for 24 hours.
With permission we will be able to take a guiltless day off. Imagine how much work we would actually get done. A nice cup of coffee, wine, whatever your pleasure and get right down to it and clean out that closet, sleep, read, write (with pen and paper), catch-up on that chore which has been so neglected to spite how excited you have been about doing it. A day of bliss which should lead to the next day being peaceful from the prior days organizing, or will our voicemails be so clogged, our emails have many, many messages, will our Tivos’ be on overload and the anxiety starts all over again, doubly? However, if we all take the digital day off, this shouldn’t happen.
If there is a Digital Day Off, please somebody let me know, and if there is not a Digital Day Off, let’s do it, right in the middle of the madness, November 3, 2008. That’s it, first Monday in November is Digital Day Off…I dare you, I’m gonna.
Ohhhhhh….enjoy the lack of any kind of information for a day, guiltlessly.
